Eileen is one of many parents who first entered the doors of the dojo to support and watch their children and then joined themselves. Eileen states that she appreciated the values taught and respect demonstrated at the school. She explored karate as an outlet for managing stress that was ever present related to her work, studies and household responsibilities. Eileen emphasized that a strong motivational factor for her was the encouragement and the positive attitude demonstrated by the instructors.

Key factors that have sustained Eileen’s commitment to long term study are identified as the satisfaction and enjoyment that she receives from learning karate skills, as well as the awareness that she is capable of learning and applying these skills in a self defense situation. She places great value on the confidence and knowledge she has acquired and cherishes the fond memories and the friendships gained.

Eileen challenges herself constantly in all that she does and karate is no exception. She is known in the school for her dedication to study, quiet yet warm personality and her strong support of school functions. No matter how many things she is juggling, Eileen always has a warm smile and is ready to put forth her best effort.

Eileen is the busy mother of two teenage girls, one of whom studied with her mother and became a skilled brown belt. Although teenage interests drew Laurie away, we look forward to the day that karate once again finds a place in her heart and schedule! Professionally, Eileen has challenged herself immensely and recently passed her exams as a Chartered Accountant. No wonder she needed the stress relief that karate offers!
