Ken Sagan
Second Degree black belt (Nidan)
Started study of Karate in April 1986
Student Seniority Ranking: #??
Key word: Perseverance
Ken was introduced to karate by watching his young son in
the Karate Kid's classes. Ken enrolled his son as he was impressed with Sensei
Dunnigan's outgoing, friendly and enthusiastic approach, along with his obvious love and
understanding of the martial arts. As he watched classed, Ken thought that
personally trying karate would be "good for a short while". That short
while has transformed into a long time! The study and practice of karate has not come easily for Ken, who is an example of the diverse spectrum of quality black belts who Sensei Dunnigan is proud to have promoted. Ken attributes his commitment to his study as being reflective of high quality instruction, no pressure for advancement, good friendships among students and the lack of abusive behavior from anyone. Professionally, Ken is a postal supervisor at Edmonton's main post office. Ken is married with two teenage sons. The eldest, Jarrad became Sensei Dunnigans first junior black belt. While teenage interests have diverted Jarred from the study of karate, it is anticipated that one day he will once again find his place for karate in his life. We'll bide our time and be joyful when the day arrives. Ken describes the school as a great place to learn karate and about yourself, developing physical ability and promoting good mental health along the way. Ken greatly contributed to the welcoming atmosphere of the dojo through his positive nature, hard work and friendly manner. He is a respected and valued ambassador of our school. |
