Michael first entered the doors of Neil Dunnigan's Karate
School as a young child coming to watch his dad in class. His choice of school
therefore became a case of following in his father's footsteps. (Michael's father,
Tony is a third degree black belt in the school.) There is also a history of long
term friendship between Michael's dad and Sensei Dunnigan. Always being one to kid around and ask "what if" kind of questions, Michael was well exposed to karate and its benefits prior to taking a single class. Michael joined the school at age 6 and over the years the adults have enjoyed watching him grow into the young man he is today. He enthusiastically still asks a lot of "what if" questions, which reaps him great insights and fellow students great chuckles. Michael has now turned into a high school student with a penchant for playing guitar and wearing a New York Fries hat for a part time job. Michael is well known and liked at the dojo for his sense of humor, the levity he brings to classes, friendly attitude and the respect he demonstrates for all classmates, young and old alike. Michael says that his long term commitment to karate is because "it is fun and this place rules." He expands, noting that the school is filled with great people, great atmosphere and has a great teacher. Being a typical teenager, he also add the comments he doesn't know how to do anything else (not true) and that Metallica rocks...yup, that sounds like Michael! |
